Quick Updates

Rutherford~ It's 2 weeks to the day that we last saw him. I just can't help believing that someone in the neighborhood would have seen him get hit if that's what happened. He never went more than just a few houses down on one side and everyone knows him. I haven't lost hope. He's a very sweet and friendly cat. Perhaps someone is keeping him inside.

Lifestyle changes~ Going very well. Today is day... 38--I think--and I don't feel the least bit deprived. In fact, I really feel like I'm going to meet my goal, especially since I've given myself a whole year to do it. Much less pressure that way.

Writing~ Going well too. My new writing helper is my iPod. I wear it every day on my lunch break while I write (with my back to the door) to block out the noise of my coworkers and to let them know I am not available while I'm on my lunch break. I've written a few interesting scenes of the new witch WIP and I'm getting to know the characters a little at a time.

That's all for tonight. It's been a stressful work week. Tomorrow will be stressful and hectic as well, but at least there's a long weekend coming up. I took off Tuesday too, as did my hubby. As a special early anniversary gift to ourselves, we are having our teeth whitened. I can't wait!

Stay cool Blogger Pals!

Clips of the week

I wish I knew how to post a You-Tube video directly to my Blog, but oh well. Here's the link. Why I'm voting for John Edwards, reason #999. He gets it.

And reason #1,000 is here.

Rutherford

Our beloved cat Rutherford hasn't been home in six nights! He comes home for dinner every night as well as the occasional breakfast if we're up early. It's not like him to stay away for so long. (I think the longest he's ever stayed away was three days.)

I've checked the local animal shelter's "lost and found" and "available pets" sections as well as the dreaded "deceased" section. No sign of our boy. Tomorrow I'll call some local vets. Please send good thoughts our way. We miss our little guy.

Strange

Anyone else having a problem posting? My new posts are showing over here, but not on my other Blogger Blog, Today's Beautiful Thing. Weird.

Must have!

I want this outfit so bad! And, oh, to have somewhere to wear the gloves with it! I was born late. Seriously.

ETA: I just ordered it. Black was in stock but red doesn't ship until Sept 19th. It's the red I want of course. Here's hoping it's way too big on my by the time it arrives. I'd love to have to deal with the hassle of exchanging it for that reason. :)

Prayer & White Light Request

Please send prayers and white light to my good friend Jill who has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. (That's Jill and her hubby Joe in the photo above.) The diagnosis is so new, the doctors have more tests to run before they'll recommend a course of treatment. Jill is a warm and wonderful woman who is active and strong and we know she's going to kick cancer's ass! We are all hoping and praying for a miracle and we'll accept nothing less!

Diet Progress

I forgot to post these the other day. Here are my weekly averages since I started watching every single morsel (seriously) that goes in my mouth over three weeks ago:

Week 1- Calories-1,260, Fat grams-25.6, Pounds lost-5
Week 2- Calories-1,120, Fat grams-20.6, Pounds lost-3
Week 3- Calories-1,130, Fat grams-22.5, Pounds lost-2

I have been walking 6 nights per week, but I've been a slacker and haven't been to the gym in a couple of months. I'm going to have to get back to my 4-5 times per week workouts. Hopefully that will kick the weight loss up a notch, but if it doesn't, I'll still be pleased as long as I can lose a pound a week.

Day 21 Check In

Here I am (with Bubba) on day 21 of my diet and I'm doing very well. I'm not having crazy cravings, I don't feel deprived and I've lost 10 pounds. Yeah! When I want something, I have it, I just add the calories and fat grams to my daily count and make my portion smaller if need be. My favorite treat is Dryers Orange Cream Sherbet (orange and vanilla swirl) for only 120 calories and 2 grams of fat. Most nights I have enough calories left over to indulge in a scoop or a scoop and a half on a cone--which helps me to eat it slower than I do with a spoon. Lulu gets excited when she sees the cone because I give her the bottom half of it. :)

All in all, the diet new lifestyle is a smashing success. WIll post my averages for all three weeks tonight after I eat or tomorrow.

PS. We took Bubba back to the rescue today. We were very sad. He was jazzed to see the rescue owner again. That made it easier, especially since she sort of gave us the cold shoulder. Oh well. She'll find him a good home where he can be the only dog, that's all that really matters. We miss him though. *sigh*

Nothing Ventured

We've had a houseguest this week. His name is Bubba and he was supposed to be the newest member of the family but, alas, he and Lulu don't get along. Of course, you certainly can't tell that from the photo below, but it's definitely the case. He wants to be in charge, and she'll have none of it. She wants to just get along, he doesn't. He starts all the fights, but she won't back down when he attacks her. Back to the rescue with him. Not to worry. He has a waiting list of people who want him. The sad thing is, we want him too...but it's just not meant to be. Sigh.
