Nothing Ventured

We've had a houseguest this week. His name is Bubba and he was supposed to be the newest member of the family but, alas, he and Lulu don't get along. Of course, you certainly can't tell that from the photo below, but it's definitely the case. He wants to be in charge, and she'll have none of it. She wants to just get along, he doesn't. He starts all the fights, but she won't back down when he attacks her. Back to the rescue with him. Not to worry. He has a waiting list of people who want him. The sad thing is, we want him too...but it's just not meant to be. Sigh.

Awww, that's too bad. We like bulldogs too, but since our dogs have to be able to tolerate being outside (in a MN winter) they're just not a good idea. :)

Oh, yeah. Maybe their cousin the Mastiff? :)

Great Pyrenees are really nice dogs. We see them at the dog park.

We actually looked at mastiff's too, but they have a few too many breed tendencies to guarding places. Which is fun (love when the UPS guy can't leave the van) but can cause problems and we don't have the time to fully train that sort of dog. Frankly, we've been lucky with the Lab cross we rescued from the pound. We're almost positive she's a lab/pit cross and you can see it in some of her play (luckily only play) behaviour
